On Monday, November 17, 2008, Metro Studios produced a Live Webcast directly from an operating room at St Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Drs. Rozeboom and McCarron performed this robotic-assisted hysterectomy at 9:30am CST.
Metro’s 2 cameras with operators, audio engineer, and technical director provided the video and audio support. Our video and audio feed streamed live over www.stlukescr.org and to a viewing room at the hospital.
Dr. Rippentrop narrated the surgery, and Ashley Hinson of KCRG-TV fielded questions from viewers.
This is not the first time Metro’s production team has shot video in an operating room, but it is the first time we’ve shot a surgery that will be broadcast live over the internet.
It was a great success for all involved!
